BUJU BANTON FRIENDS AND FAMILY SEND OPEN LETTER TO JUDGE


Grammy award winner Buju Banton's may face up 15 years in prison for conspiracy drug charges related to a cocaine deal in Florida 2009. The artist friends and family have been sending letters to the residing judge pleading for leniency.
 
From fellow bandmates, his children as well as actor Danny Glover wrote a touching letter "Your Honor, Mark Myrie is not any drug dealer. Society would not benefit from his incarceration. Since this is his first offence, I earnestly ask of you to grant him pardon by having the guilty charge overturned, retrial and bond,” Glover said.

Letters have been pouring in from fans all around the world  asking to give the artist a second chance.Reggae artist and friend Stephen Marley wrote to the judge expressing his love and appreciation for the artist.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Thursday June 23 in Tampa, Fla.
