Saturday, April 20th Rickey D,
The Wyland Brothers, Ricky Notnice and (Montreal Dancehall) presented an installment of You
Got Jokes...this was by far one of the best attended and funnier shows in some
time.
It was great to see the close to
packed house in the newly renovated Desjardins Théàtre CEGEP André Laurendeau
looking lovely and holding their bellies with that laugh cramp we all know too
well when we are getting our laugh on!
The show was on point and I appreciate that it was well organized – the
comedians were funny and really brought the house down.
I got the chance to interview a very humble
Tony Rock – not only is he hella funny, he’s clearly intelligent has very
strong family values and really is on the brink of breaking free from his
brother, Chris Rock’s, shadow and making his mark as a class act on his own.
An upcoming stand up comedian, Sidney Castillo had me rolling. He is definitely
going to make his mark in his new role on the revamped and totally new In
Living Colour, Fly Girls and all! Local Eddy King got some time in and stole a
few laughs during his set and a receptive crowd roared when Marshall Brandon came on. The previous You Got
Jokes edition also has him and the host, Zack Johnson holding it down when they repped the
comedy south of the border in their US vs Canada edition and he put down the
jokes! A definite stand out.
Some jokes were made at our own Mawga K’s
expense, who took on the role of DJ – he took them on in good nature and next
time will be on his cues, cause if not, those DJs will rip into him again.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening and a well
attended event that has undoubtedly left Montrealers ready for the next
installment of who got jokes.
