Toronto, ON, May 28, 2012 – This evening’s 2012 Stylus Awards sponsored
by Pioneer DJ was a phenomenal showcase celebrating an array of
Canadian artists at the historic Danforth Music Hall. The awards show
highlighted some of the most creative musical home-grown talent to an
audience filled with incredible artists, producers, DJs, well-known
personalities and music lovers. The Weeknd and Keith Dean
dominated the ceremonies with The Weeknd walking away with three (3)
wins, and Keith Dean the proud recipient of multiple awards including
Fan Choice Club DJ of the Year!
VIP’s,
nominees and presenters alike began the evening festivities enjoying
The VOCAB gift lounge at GLOBE Bistro (courtesy of VOCAB
Communications). To the audiences delight, comedian and host for the
evening TRIXX kicked off the night in classic form with
a few well-spirited jokes. True to Stylus tradition, a variety of
talent rocked the stage with performances from Kreesha Turner, Dru, The Airplane Boys, A Game and Hall of Fame inductee Michie Mee.
The jam-packed show continued when Toronto’s legendary SUPERNATURALZ Crew (who is Toronto’s oldest competing Bboy crew), performed a special tribute to Beastie Boy, MCA (Adam Yauch) produced by four time Stylus award nominee DJ Anchor. In honour of their pioneering contributions to the Canadian music scene, artists Michie Mee (Toronto) and DJ Bunny (Calgary) were inducted into the Stylus Hall of Fame.
