MONTREAL COMMUNITY CARES AWARDS 2012

MCCA provides the opportunity to recognize and honour individuals or groups for their contribution to their community.

Help us recognize Montreal’s unsung heroes. To nominate a community champion – whether an adult, youth, community organization, charitable foundation or business – for a Montreal Community Cares Award, please complete the 2012 official nomination form.

Nominations for the 2012 Montreal Community Cares Awards close March 16th, 2012.
 
General Award Guidelines
  • All nominated individuals, foundations, organizations and businesses must be based in the Greater Montreal Area (GMA).
  • Nominated youth must be 18 years old or younger.
  • Any outstanding citizen who volunteers or who takes initiative within the community is eligible.
  • Any not-for-profit group or organization working in the interests of the community is eligible.
  • An individual may nominate an organization of which they are a member.
  • The Awards are designed to recognize past achievements.
  • The Awards do not exclude community groups who use professionals to support the delivery of services undertaken by volunteers.

KEY FACTORS

Key factors to consider during selection:
  • Does the nominee have a voice within the community?
  • How did the nominee engage the youth or the community?
  • How is the nominee received in the community?
  • Does the nominee set him/herself apart by showing a dedication to the community in his/her daily life?

CATEGORIES

Six recipients will be recognized in the following categories:
  • Community Leader
  • Community Organization
  • Charitable Foundation
  • Small/Medium Enterprise (SME)
  • Student/Athlete
  • Youth Leadership

Selection Criteria

Community Leader - Adult
An individual whose ongoing commitment has resulted in a significant and recognizable contribution to improving the quality of life and well-being of individuals, groups and/or communities by serving as, among other things:
  • A positive role model with a strong work/life balance
  • An active and empowering mentor
  • An engaged community advocate

Community Organization
A community organization whose ongoing commitment has resulted in a significant and recognizable contribution to improving the quality of life and well-being of individuals, groups and/or communities by funding or providing programming in one or more of the following areas:
  • Education
  • Sports
  • Youth
  • Culture
  • Health

Charitable Foundation
A charitable foundation whose ongoing commitment has resulted in a significant and recognizable contribution to improving the quality of life and well-being of individuals, groups and/or communities by providing donations (in money and in kind) to support initiatives focused in one or more of the following areas:
  • Education
  • Sports
  • Youth
  • Culture
  • Health

Small/Medium Enterprise (SME)
An SME whose caring and engaged culture has resulted in a significant and recognizable contribution to improving the quality of life and well-being of individuals, groups and/or communities by actively supporting (funding, volunteering, etc.) initiatives focused in one or more of the following areas:
  • Education
  • Sports
  • Youth
  • Culture
  • Health

Youth Leadership
An exceptionally well-rounded youth who is:
  • An outstanding athlete
  • A strong student
  • An active community advocate

Student/Athlete
A youth who has rallied others around a cause, event or initiative that has made a significant and recognizable contribution in one or more of the following areas:
  • Education
  • Sports
  • Youth
  • Culture
  • Health

Selection Process

Community Leader - Adult
Nominations must be made on the official nomination form. Additional supporting information may be
supplied. The Montreal Community Cares Awards selection committee will determine the category
winners.
